Last week there was an MFA outage that lasted a couple of hours, locked people with MFA enabled out. There are constant service interruptions or issues with something inside the O365 environment, but very rarely is it something that impacts everyone heavily. One region or area might experience an outage, that doesn't mean everyone is. None of the three companies I support experienced an outage. I saw a lot of people posting about an outage this morning. They've been publishing those statistics since 2013.ĭowntime is relative. There is the report of O365 Service Uptime by quarter since 2017. Usually it's just a subset of servers that are affected or the service is slowed but not offline.īut you can check for current status and if you have a 365 account you can log in to the admin panel and see recent service outages that affect you.

Part of the problem is, very rarely (never?) is there an outage that affects all 365 users. But there's no controlling power / internet outages, and a single-server solution is susceptible to hardware failures. There are always folks in these threads saying my server's been up with no problem for umpty-ump years with no problem! which is great and they're very lucky / careful. This is across 300+ companies and nearly every permutation of environment you can think of. More importantly, they throw serious resources at any degredation and are clear about communicating issues. Anecdotal, but I've had as or more reliable service from 365 than from on-prem systems and other hosting providers.
